Fleming Family & Partners

Introduction

Following the sale of Robert Fleming in 2000 Iain was invited to coordinate the design, establishment and management of the new Fleming family office business – Fleming Family & Partners (“FF&P”).

Activities

This work involved defining and drafting the business plan, consultation with shareholders, and working with others to build the new management team. By leading the creation of the governance structure the business achieved its regulatory approvals. In August 2000 Iain was appointed Chief Operating Officer and FF&P became an established family office and by expanding its capacity it grew funds under management, and achieved early realisations in its advisory business.

Context

The successful establishment in 2000 to 2005 was the foundation period for FF&P when it was recognised as a pioneer of the emerging family office sector.  As an initial shareholder and senior manager Iain broadened the new senior executive management in the business, and after holding various senior positions himself he became independent in 2005.
